Starting over

As you have probably noticed I couldn’t quite get back on the diet proparly after the Christmas break for longer than a couple of days. Now that Easter is over I have decided to re-start properly.

On the plus side despite eating whatever I fancied in the last couple of month I haven’t gained much weight from the point where I stopped dieting. In fact most of my weight gain happened in the last couple of weeks when I was taking steroids for medical reasons. It’s a good thing to see, as it gives me hope that once I finish the Dukan program it looks like the weight should not bounce back.

One thing I’m not sure about is whether I’ll be doing daily or weekly updates here. Depends on how much time I’ll have to spare on a daily basis.

Christmas break

Well what can I say. Holidays do not help keeping a diet. So any updates will be back after Christmas. I’m trying not to stray too much from the diet rules but there is no point pretending I’m properly abiding them…

Anyway, whether you are being a brave and strong diet soldier and you are keeping the diet over the Holidays or you are giving yourself a little break Merry Christmas to everyone!

Day 21 – some stat updates

Weight change: -0.5kg

First month weight loss chart

When I put all the figures in, I was actually surprised howlittle ups there were through the course of my diet so far. It definitely felt like there were more regressions. Sometimes looking at the big picture can actually help your motivation aparently…

Cycle 5 - PV - weight loss

To start a new tradition above is the just finished vegetable 5 day phase.

Overall I am 6.3kg lighter in 5 weeks.

What the Dukan website says…

My Dukan Prediction

I took the test on Dukan’s website and this is what it said.

Well having no clue about the French language did not help, but I guess picture do speak for themselves.

Unfortunately my Attack phase did not go as well as predicted I think it was about 2kg or even slightly less that I lost. I do think it might have something to do with the fact this is actually my second attempt at Protal – and the first time I tried I did lose around 3.5kg in the Attack phase,so I guess my body was just too well prepared for a retry…

Too bad I found out about the test a bit late – this is why my starting weight on the graph is less then when I started the diet. Interestingly enough the suggested weight for me was 63.1kg rather than the 65kg I picked myself. Though considering I’ve been quite gifted in certain body areas and have quite heavy bones I’d be happy with 65kg…

Protal & Me – a diet journey

Dieting alone is hard. No praise for your efforts and no cold water bucket when you make wrong choices.

I’m not your typical diet-obsessed-chick. Just the thought of “rabbit food” like salads and the supposedly healthy options is a turn off. At the same time I’m not all that bad – never been addicted to crisps or fizzy drinks.

A big turning point was when my weight started to get dangerously close to 90kg, and that sounds like almost a hundred, at least to me.

I’ve tried diets before but they were either ineffective, or I would slip really quickly, or the weight loss would not last. None of these makes starting yet another diet easy.

I was secretly wishing for some magic solution that would not involve crunching salad and jogging all day long. If I had time to exercise several hours a day, I wouldn’t have a problem in the first place, would I?

And then I was told about the Dukan diet. In short it is a variation of the low carb diet type. But what is really special about it is the promise of a normal life at the end of the trial. It’s not a quick and easy solution, and it has quite strict rules, however it holds you by the hand and deals with the yo-yo effect.

The main ingredient is proteins, which means plenty of meat, as well as no feeling of being starved to death. Thus inspired by my sisters’ results (she’s doing Protal too) I’ve decided to start too, and now that I have actually managed to stay on it over a week I thought of documenting my journey. On one hand to motivate myself and add one more reason not to quit (oh, the public shame…), and on the other hand to maybe help others who want to follow this French diet.
