Oh my, what a year it has been!
My last post was about getting back on the diet and being strict and so on. Well it didn’t work out. Maybe if I chained my mom to my kitchen table and have her cook my meals all the time things would have turned out differently
Unfortunately she went home, which being abroad meant bye, bye home cooking.
The new job has been a mixed blessing. A career changer and a personal experience in some ways worth the dietary and health issues. On the other hand my weight crept back to just under what I had when I started the diet. Hey, could be worse…
But the good news is after plenty of ups and downs at work I’m now working from home 3 days a week. Yeah – I can get back to home cooked meals, which has been my main problem. I neither had the time to cook them nor much of an option to carry the rare stuff I did cook with me. 2 days should be easier to prepare for in advance
So with this new found energy, expect some new recipes and a better looking progress update! I promise

A visit from my parents promted two weeks of solid dieting – my father joined the dukan diet and it was nice to have everyone eat the same things.
Managed to shift 2.5kg in those two weeks. Considering my longterm and recent health issues it is actually a good result. And this is something that I struggle with – accepting the fact that I’m not loosing the weight as fast as I would like. However slowly I’m starting to be more happy with this slow but steady success.

Still being a bit flakey with the eating habits. But a good day basically gets rewarded with 0.6kg less. Very motivating if only didn’t have so much stresfull things going on at the moment. But things should stabilize soon.
Breakfast:
Ham and cream cheese (5% philadelphia) dukan sandwitch (dukan bread from oatbran, really easy to make)
Kefir (0% dairy drink)
Lunch:
Grilled chicken breast and pastrami
Dinner:
Chicken curry

Last week has been a bit up and down, still managed to go down by 1kg though.
Decided to try 1/1 for a week to see if it might be easier to stick to, especially as I qualify under the female with hormonal problems category
Today I had
- oat bran muffins
- roast chicken leftovers
- fried chicken leftovers with mushrooms and peppers and onions
- diet coke, tea & water
I found that roasted (well, cooked in the oven) whole chicken is a great dish and can save you some money too. You can first have the roast chicken, then you can use the bones for soup, and the leftover meat can be used for 1-3 more meals (and that’s two people eating…) depending on the corpus size.
These leftover bits work great as a diet stir fry with veggies or filling for oat bran pancakes.

As you have probably noticed I couldn’t quite get back on the diet proparly after the Christmas break for longer than a couple of days. Now that Easter is over I have decided to re-start properly.
On the plus side despite eating whatever I fancied in the last couple of month I haven’t gained much weight from the point where I stopped dieting. In fact most of my weight gain happened in the last couple of weeks when I was taking steroids for medical reasons. It’s a good thing to see, as it gives me hope that once I finish the Dukan program it looks like the weight should not bounce back.
One thing I’m not sure about is whether I’ll be doing daily or weekly updates here. Depends on how much time I’ll have to spare on a daily basis.
